Generic Framing Procedure (GFP) is an protocol standard specified by the Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) of the "International Telecommunication Union (ITU)" based in Geneva, Switzerland.
GFP is part of the "G-series" of standards, which cover "Transmission systems and media, digital systems and networks".

The G.7041 document is not (yet) publically available and specifies two types of GFP data handling procedures: Framed GFP (GFP-F) and Transparent GFP (GFP-T).
